Looking back at the Chishom Trail- Klondike Derby #46
With temperatures in the low 30s, Saturday was a great day for the Klondike Derby. With 455 Scouts participating and 72 teams, the Day kicked off at roughly 8am with registration and sleds hit the trails starting at 8:30.
With activities ranging from Campfire Cooking to Mapping, Constellation Identification to First-aid, and Archery to Shotgun Shooting, it was up to the Scout to chart their own trail to victory for the day.
Another highlight, and chance to warm up, was this years Living History Station. Featuring Ramblin' Ray's Wild West Show, the Dining Hall became the temporary corral for a condensed version of Ray Owens show, getting a taste of the tunes of the Cattle Drive along the Chisholm Trail. Scouts and leaders could also stop in for a taste of one of Mr. Jacks annual soups or a hot chocolate as the Seven Mountains Alumni Association manned the Kitchen.
The Derby wrapped up around 3:30, and the Scores were tallied. Following a few tie breakers, the winners of the Derby were announced. We also launched the First, of hopefully many, Facebook Live Videos from the Seven Mountains Scout Camp Facebook Page.
